Questions Questions Questions

A few people have asked me what it think about different things in F1 so with the news of the Ferrari appeal yet again messing up any chance of me finishing my who do I think will win the title so having no idea if the points will stay the same. So on a lighter note to switch off from lawyers, court battles, espionage and cheating in general I thought id answer some. Like I say these are my opinions so please don't be upset if you don't like the answer, Now on with the questions...

Q: Do you think that Jenson Button would have been just as successful as Hamilton, if Button was given the position at Mclaren? - Tom Haywood

A: There is no doubt that if Hamilton was in a Honda or a Toyota he wouldn't of got 9 podiums in a row. You just aren't going to score top results in a poor car which sadly is what the Honda is. It is also a double blow for button that a new British star comes on to the scene as he ends up with a dog that the Honda is. Press coverage would make you think almost that there is only one brit on the grid and that isn't Button. Were now heading to Hungary where last year Jenson won the race, this year he will be happy just to score a point. Button however is still a top driver that im sure would of been able to be in the title fight if he was in the Mclaren. My only reservation is how would he compare to Alonso. Both Button and Alonso have struggled with this years Bridgestone tire, Button to a lesser extent but I do think this would of cost him a podium or two in the early part of the season, So whilst there is no doubt Button would of had more success than in his Honda I don't think He would of managed 9 podiums in a row.

Q: Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna in identical machines. Who wins? -Lou Cipher

A: Well this is a tough one. Comparing the greats is never easy and no one will ever agree on the answer ether so heres my two cents. Firstly the cars lets make them GP2 cars, There the most equal cars at the moment. The track I think should be Spa Francorchamps. Its a 30 lap race with 1 compulsory pitstop Now if it were possible to have this race in an ideal world Id like it happen like this. So lets get down to the grid.

The grid for the race has been decided in number of Poles in there career. So its Schumacher, Senna then Prost. At the start Schumacher cuts of Senna at the First corner this holds up Senna allowing Prost to jump Senna, Schumacher also loses momentum in holding up Senna and Prost passes them both! On the way up to Eau Rouge Senna tries to pass Schumacher again but fails with these two fighting over second Prost extends his lead. After 10 laps Prost has a lead up to 9 seconds Senna finally overtakes Schumacher at the Bus stop chicane and pulls away and starts to eat into Prosts lead By lap 14 the lead is down to 3 seconds with Schumacher another 3 seconds down the road 6 seconds cover the all 3 by lap 20 Senna is on Prosts tail only a second behind. Schumacher is only 3 seconds behind. Both Senna and Prost pit at the same time and have good stops and rejoin in the same order, Schumacher however stays out for 3 more laps setting fastest lap after fastest lap, he pits and rejoins just in front of Senna, Once again Senna and Schumacher fight it out, Then coming into the Bus Stop chicane on lap 22 Senna goes for the same pass but loses his front wing! Schumacher also has a rear puncture both pit in as the typical spa weather takes a turn with plenty of rain hitting the circuit but only one half of the circuit gets soaked. Schumacher and Senna are able to switch to intermediate tires whilst Prost having to struggle round the damp half of the circuit on slicks starts to lose any lead he may of gained through the clash of Senna and Schumacher. Prost also goes for full wets not liking wet conditions he leaves the pits and has a 10 second lead over Schumacher with Senna just behind, With 5 laps to go Schumacher Closes down on Prost. Its stopped raining and intermediates are the tire to have with half of the track dry and the rest wet, Schumacher and Senna cruise up to Prost whose wet tires are overheating on the dry track. Onto the last lap Schumacher dives down the inside of Prost at La Source and Senna tries to as well Prost defends Senna all over the back of Prost all through Eau Rouge and into the straight up to Les Combes. Senna goes for a move into the Bus Stop again and passes Prost but its too late as Schumacher takes the win from Senna then Prost.

There you go thats how I see it Schumacher and Senna were best in the wet and Prost was never comfortable in wet conditions. The key point is where Schumacher reeled off the fast laps before the pit stops and got him back in contention. Senna always in it and made the passes. Both he and Schumacher had the luck even having to pit but at the same time as the rain.

Q: Which 22 drivers of all time would you like to see in identical cars (Like A1) lining a grid for a super race from the past and present?

A: Well going to need a time machine for this and get them when there at there peak but here goes! Easily in no particular order. 1) Michael Schumacher 2) Ayrton Senna 3) Alan Prost 4) Stirling Moss 5) Gilles Villeneuve 6) Juan Manuel Fangio 7) Jim Clark 8) Jackie Stewart 9) Mario Andretti 10) Mika Hakkinen 11)Graham Hill 12) Nigel Mansell 13) Niki Lauda 14) Ronnie Peterson 15) Chris Amon 16) Jody Sheckter 17) Didier Pironi 18) Emerson Fittipaldi 19)Alberto Ascari 20)Phil Hill 21) Bruce Mclaren 22) Lewis Hamilton (Mainly to compare him to the greats!)

There is my ideal grid. Just don't expect me to pick a winner.

Q: Which in your opinion is the best track of all time? - Enigmatic_Charismatic

A: With a length of 13.5 miles and 172 corners it simply has to be the old Nurburgring has to be it. Sadly F1 will never return to the track last time they went there in 1976 Niki Lauda had his horrible fiery crash. It was nice to see BMW put on a special display there earlier this year with Nick Heidfeld doing a 3 laps and not going for any lap times but even though it left a good impression on him "This drive was simply incredible,” said Heidfeld. “I thought it would be great to drive on the Nordschleife before I started out. But it was even better than I had expected. This racing track is the best in the world. I’d really like to have emptied the tank. It was a very special moment when I left the Grand Prix circuit in the direction of the Nordschleife. I was really shaken up at the Bergwerk section and on the Döttinger Höhe. I’ll never forget today as long as I live.” You can actually drive on the old circuit in your own car for a small price and the track is still races a 24 hour touring car race too.

There you go thats all for now but if you do have a question you'd like my opinion or thoughts on contact me Middlemore283@hotmail.com and I will try to answer them on here.
