It’s not easy to live in NYC! The apartments there are a little bigger than the size of a tofu box and cost most New Yorkers more than half of their paychecks. Then the city is always at the risk of being attack by Godzilla and the unnamed monster in Cloverfield. No wonder that people there party so damn hard when they have the chance! Last Saturday, the nation largest import lifestyle party crowd returned to Belmont Park for its annual extravaganza in Queens, New York; it was another successful never ending Nightshift!

The party started at 4:00pm when the sun was still hot in the sky, and as usual we showed up an hour early just to find that the parking lot was already packed! After circling around the lot for like 30 times, we parked the car 2000 feet away from the entrance when a minivan gave up its spot; 2000 feet away! We counted as we walked toward the entrance and along the long line of fans waiting to get in!
After a close encounter of almost being strip search by the security guys, the first thing we saw when we walked in was the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and the Ghost Busters! We instantly looked at each other and started jamming the Ghost Busters theme song from the 80s!
There were more that 400 cars in the show: EVOs, STIs, 350Zs, S15s, RX-7s, RX-8s, Supras, JDM EGs, EKs, DC2s, DC5, S2Ks, M3s, Porsche 911s, Vipers, Austin Martins, Skyline GT-Rs, and more! We had no idea there would be so many tuner cars in New York City! In our 2-bit mind, everyone here travels with yellow cabs, just like they show in the movies. But then it makes sense that the cars here would only be the best and tuned by the best! We put our game face on and tried to get as many clean shots as possible knowing how many fans was going to rush in. Meanwhile, we summed up the top three on our own list:
- 3rd: Streetlightz FD2 Civic Type-R. Yeah, it is the real deal, the ass kicking 4-door Type-R shipped from Japan! It wasn’t the first time we saw this car (in person), but the more we see it, the deeper we fell for it!
- 2nd: Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R widebody BMW M-Coupe. We love Bimmers! Over the years they built their cars faster by generations and, unfortunately, uglier! But we got to give it up to Bridgestone; this M-Coupe is definitely the best looking car in BMW current production line. We have no doubt that it is fast and it has full interior!
- 1st: Fizz Auto Sports’ twins IS300. It’s a tie! Fizz built these two IS300s one for competing on the drag strip and another on the road course. The key word here is “competing”. These are actual racecars that put down up to 400 horses on the wheels depend on their setting.
Like any other HIN events, Nightshift is not just about cars! New York City had the most sportsbiker population in the States. HIN setup two areas to fulfill their needs: The Boost Mobile Freestyle MX at the edge of the parking lot showcased some of the nation’s best Freestyle Motocross riders performing death-defying tricks. Next to it was the XDL National Stunt Riding Championship Competition, held for the first time at a Nightshift event going head-to-head with incredible sport of freestyle stunt riding.
No Nightshift would be complete without its signature lineup of the most alluring models in the automotive industry. The Model Central featuring a bevy of hotties included 2007 Miss Maxim, Erin McKinnon, Jenny Chu, Kit So, and many others. Then opposite to the Boost Mobile main stage, Jasmine Mai was giving dry body shots inside the Play Lounge booth. There were too many beautiful people walking around and showing their skins in a hot day! That put a big smile on our sweaty faces! In fact, we forgot to take any more pictures of the cars and solely focus our lenses on the hot chicks around us. Yeah, not just the models! Thank us later; just check out the pictures first!
With the conclusion of Nightshift in New York City, Hot Import Nights will head south to Concord, North Carolina, on July 12th. Then Orlando, Florida, on July 19th. It is going to be wild, hot, and larger than live! Don’t miss them!
